Why.
It's hard for me to find a site about games that I actually want to read. I don't want to read a site written by & for a fan's perspective. Nor a stockholder's perspective. Bor-r-r-ing. I want to read about what other game developers are thinking and making straight from someone who's part of the creative process. Besides, since many of these bloggers are indies, the stuff they're working on is often inherently more interesting than "AAA" titles. But I definitely don't have time to follow hundreds of blogs any more. This aggregation somehow makes it easier to get the kind of insight I want.
Note that a lot of ignorance and bad ideas are presented in here, and I'm not filtering that out because it's representative of the experience of being a game developer to not know what you're doing and to figure things out, and I think it's useful for people to see that. Even though a lot of these writers are total newbs, it's still inspiring just being able to see what they're doing, like looking over someone's shoulder at university or a game-jam. It's easier to appreciate a game I myself wouldn't want to make (or play) when I can witness the detailed construction process. Plus, some game developers are even willing to talk about their own business experiences, which is super cool.
